Have you ever wondered what computer science is? Well, It’s a really cool field that’s all about designing and developing computer software and hardware. Basically, computer scientists are the ones who come up with new algorithms and programming languages and figure out how to make computers do cool things like recognize speech, play games or develop the software/hardware required to enable self-driving vehicles.

One thing to keep in mind is that computer science is not the same thing as software engineering. While they do have some overlap, computer science is more focused on theory and developing new algorithms and software tools, whereas software engineering is more focused on applying those tools to develop software products. So, if you’re interested in the theory behind computers and programming languages, computer science might be the way to go!

Another great thing about computer science is that it’s a high-paying field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for computer and information research scientists (which includes computer science) in the United States is around $126,000 per year. That’s definitely nothing to sneeze at!

As far as industries go, there are a lot of options for computer science majors. Some of the most common industries that hire computer science majors include technology, finance, healthcare, government, and automotive. But really, any industry that relies on computers and software could potentially hire computer science majors.

So, if you’re someone who’s interested in programming and figuring out how computers work, computer science might be the perfect field for you! It’s a challenging and rewarding career path with a lot of opportunities for growth and innovation.
